why inklings press?

The story of the name of my blog is a strange one.

I’m a huge fan of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien (can you tell?!) and I knew I wanted my blog to reflect that.  I’d already chosen Eowyn as my online name because she’s such a strong character – my favorite girl in the entire trilogy – but I knew that picking a blog name was going to be harder.

I chose ‘inklings’ first because that’s the name of the club formed by C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien and a few of their writing friends explicitly for the purpose of talking about the things they were writing.  To quote Warren Lewis, Jack’s brother, “Properly speaking, the Inklings was neither a club nor a literary society, though it partook of the nature of both. There were no rules, officers, agendas, or formal elections.”  And that’s what I wanted here – no rules or agendas.  Exactly what I want to say, whenever I want to say it.  🙂

As far as the ‘press’ part goes, my dad actually suggested it.  I thought later that it was a good word because it described a little of what I wanted to do on my blog – share some of my writing.  And that’s what I hope to do, because writing is my passion!

Hope you enjoy reading my blog!

  1. Hi, Eowyn!
I stumbled across your blog in my suggest blogs portion of my wordpress account, and I was sure I visited your blog before and we had talked, but I can’t remember exactly who are you, and it is bugging me! I’m pretty sure we met during Nanowrimo and then chatted all about our shared love of C. S. Lewis, but what is your username? I was dryadwriter and went by the pen name “Jackie Theoson” or the nickname “Agarisil,” but now that I am working towards being published, I am using my real name for branding purposes.
Anyways, I would love to chat with you again, and I am really irritated that I can’t remember your username…
    God bless,

    • Hey! I remember you!!!!! I’m EowynShieldmaiden and I was in your cabin. That’s so awesome that you’re working to be published! You can just email me because I never get on NaNo unless it’s a NaNo month. 😛 My email address is watermelon (at) elliott-family (dot) com. Can’t wait to chat with you again!
